five makeup looks that look better when you’re sweating

Ever checked your makeup mid-day and noticed it looks less-than-perfect (thanks to the humid summer weather)? From dewy skin to worn-in eyeshadow and glossy eyelids, we’ve put together five looks that actually look even better in the heat.

Dewy, highlighted skin aka “strobing” can actually work in your favour during the summer months, providing a healthy glow. You can pull off the hot weather-approved look seen at the runway at Thakoon with wet hair and a bit of strategically placed illuminator.

GET THE LOOK: Here’s how to do the “strobing” technique: dab a tiny amount of liquid illuminator to these areas of your face: right above the cheekbones, under the browbone and on the cupid’s bow of the lip. Skip powder for a natural looking sheen on the skin.

Glow recommends: NARS Illuminator in Copacabana

We’ve all had days when our mascara or eyeshadow has smudged thanks to the summer heat. Embrace the look (seen at Cavalli) by rocking a smudgy soft smokey eye and keep the rest of your makeup minimal.

GET THE LOOK: Choose a daytime-appropriate cream eyeshadow hue like taupe or soft brown. Using a pencil eyeshadow brush, apply the cream shadow on the upper and lower waterline and finish off with waterproof mascara.

Glow recommends: Maybelline Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Eyeshadow in Tough As Taupe

Red lipstick can sometimes get messy on a hot and humid day. But if you want to pull off a red lip hue (similar to the one see at Zac Posen) during the summer months, go for a budge proof lip stain instead.

GET THE LOOK: Apply a long-lasting liquid stain with a lip brush for easier application. Skip the powder and keep the rest of your makeup minimal for a fresh look that will look better throughout the day.

Glow recommends: Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in Shanghai Sizzle

Even if it’s unintentional (as a result of your eyeshadow creasing throughout the day), glossy eyelids still prove to be super flattering if done right.

GET THE LOOK: To pull off the eye look seen at Armani, a pale hued cream highlighter is key. Dab a tiny amount of the product all over your eyelid with your ring finger.

Glow recommends: Benefit Cosmetics Watts Up!

Fake a healthy, post-workout flush (like the one seen at Jason Wu) during the summer months with a cream blush. Even if you’re just breaking a sweat from your morning commute, you’ll still look naturally glowing.

GET THE LOOK: Cream or gel blushes will be your go-to for the summer months to avoid any cakiness caused by powder products. Dab a small amount on the apples of your cheeks and blend with your fingers.

Glow recommends: L’Oreal Visible Lift Blur Blush in Soft Peach
