Marlene Rego I am probably one of the last girls alive to jump on the double cleansing beauty bandwagon. Let’s be honest: the very name is enough to bring on major eyerolls because not only is double-anything the antithesis of minimal, it also sounds like a total cash grab. Or so I thought. It took super congested skin and a desperate trip to a facialist to discover just how wrong I was. Sure, any good skincare expert might go through 10+ steps during a facial, each one more luxurious than the last, but it was the pre-cleansing oil massage that really hooked me. Skeptical as ever, I was totally surprised oil made my skin feel anything but oily. Followed by regular cleansing water, I was a total convert. My face had never felt so soft and clean without feeling completely stripped of moisture. Before converting, I would buy Bioré nose strips by the caseload. When I started double cleansing at home, it’s the ONLY thing that helped clear my blackheads so quickly. Despite consecutive cleansings, the process has actually saved me time removing makeup (it melts budge-proof waterproof mascara in seconds) and money (on prepped skin, that $90 night serum will most likely do its job better). This is one beauty bandwagon I’m staying on.
