    All About That Base
Before we get to the liner, don’t forget prep your lid with an eyeshadow primer. “To ensure long-lasting eyeliner, start by using an eyeshadow primer 360° around the eye to lock-in your liner on the upper and lower lash line,” says Hutchinson.

    Pencil Eyeliner
Ideal for your upper and lower lash line, pencil liners allow you to be playful with your eye look as you can go with soft, bold or blended lines. “A waterproof pencil liner will offer the longest wear,” says Hutchinson. She recommends looking for waterproof pencils that contain moisturizing ingredients that allow for long-wear, but also easy application and removal.

    Liquid Eyeliner
Date night? If you want to wear a sultry cat eye look, Hutchinson says to pick a liquid liner as your weapon of choice as they are the best for creating sharp, defined lines.

    Gel Eyeliner
Like liquid, gel liners can create dramatic, sharp lines, but they can also be smudged on to the lash line to create an easy smoky eye. Bonus: They’re also easy to apply. “Gel liners are more forgiving than a liquid liner and are applied with an angled eyeliner brush, which call for a controlled application,” says Hutchinson.
